Tips to Combat the Skills Shortage

Lesezeit: 8 minutes | Monday, 20. May 2019

The clean exchange of information and proper communication with colleagues are essential for smooth operations and excellent service in transportation and logistics. A few years ago, important information and changes to routes were communicated over the phone while driving. Now, this communication exchange happens digitally via mobile devices such as tablets or smartphones with intelligent software.

Active Tour Optimization while driving

Efficient route planning is the foundation for economic success in transportation and logistics. With software solutions like BlueLOGICO®, dispatchers can plan routes and optimize them using smart algorithms. The planned routes can then be sent directly to the driver's tablet or smartphone via a secure data connection. If a new destination needs to be reached during the journey, the dispatcher can simply enter the new waypoint into BlueLOGICO®, and the driver's route will be adjusted. Through intelligent real-time route adjustment, the planned route is optimized, and the driver can start and follow the adjusted tour on their smartphone.

Smart Order Control

Similar to route planning, new orders can be created in BlueLOGICO® and sent directly to the driver. Drivers can view the orders on their smartphone or tablet using the TEOS® app. In addition to relevant order information, the TEOS® app provides order-related input options for the driver. Thus, the driver can indicate the status of the order (e.g., in progress) in the app. The information and status updates are displayed to the dispatcher in BlueLOGICO®, keeping them up to date.

Digital Signing of Delivery Receipts

At the customer's location, drivers can use the TEOS® app on their tablet or smartphone to obtain necessary confirmations and signatures. For example, the driver can use the digital delivery receipt (previously created by the dispatcher) available in the app. All relevant order information is automatically included on the digital delivery receipt and ready for the customer's signature. The signed digital delivery receipt is then stored in the system and can be emailed to the customer.

Sending Short Messages

The most common information can be exchanged through the functions described above. To ensure that drivers and dispatchers are not limited in their communication, both also have the option to communicate via free text. Additionally, drivers and dispatchers can easily confirm free text messages using provided response options. This ensures that drivers are not distracted while driving and can focus on their core tasks.

Conclusion

Good communication and collaboration between dispatchers and drivers help significantly increase productivity. Furthermore, real-time tour adjustments guarantee that drivers are always on the optimal routes. The digital transmission of orders ensures that drivers have all essential information on their mobile device with the TEOS® app. Features such as the digital delivery receipt digitize old processes and documents, enabling central management.
